The past two months have been exciting at the market—which you no doubt have seen for yourself as you’ve been in the store—and the board has been partaking in that excitement behind the scenes. Before you, as a Maple City Market owner, got to see the new windows and booths and outside work at the market, the board was working behind the scenes to support those awesome changes spearheaded by our General Manager, Brad Alstrom.
In order to make those changes possible, Maple City Market collaborated with community partners, seeking funds and getting design input. Special thanks to David Pottinger, the Downtown Goshen Facade Grant Program, and the Community Foundation of Elkhart County (CFEC). These community partners have helped to make these changes—some that you already see, and some that will be occurring in the future—possible. Special thanks are also due to Eric Amt, board member, for pursuing the assistance of the CFEC.
In addition to this more public-facing work, the board has also been hard at work on many other things, including the approval or re-approval of four committees: the Board Perpetuity Committee, GM Evaluation and Compensation Committee, Future Capital Campaign Committee, and Member Linkage and Annual Meeting Committee. Our board would invite any owner-members to volunteer to be on the Member Linkage and Annual Meeting committee. If interested, contact GM Brad Alstrom at bradalstrom@maplecitymarket.coop or Board Chair Brian Wiebe at board@maplecitymarket.coop. Thank you all for your continued support of Maple City Market, and happiest holidays from the board of directors!
